I have been receiving plenty of inquiries on how much an investment will be after 10 years, 15 years, or 20 years.
Answers will, of course, vary depending on how much your initial investments will be, how much additional investments you’ll be making, amount of risks that you are willing to take, and how long you will be investing.
Because of that, I have decided to create a simple template where you can compute how much your investments will be worth after several conditions are met.
Fill up the form below to download the Calculator:
* After completing the forms, and after you confirmed your email address, you will be redirected to the download page. The link will also be sent to your email address within one hour.
There are few fields that you need to fill up in this calculator. These are:
- Total Investments First Year
- Additional Yearly Investments
- Estimated Yearly Rate of Return
- Investment Time Frame (In years)
Let’s get through with the logic of each field one by one.
Total Investments First Year. This is the initial amount that you have invested on your first year of investing. This is your investment’s beginning balance.
Additional Yearly Investments. Considering that you will be regularly making additional investments (Peso Cost Averaging), this is the total additional investment that you have made in any given year. If you don’t plan to make additional investments, just leave it blank.
Estimated Yearly Rate of Return. Popularly called “interest” (but should not be the case), this is the estimated percentage that your money will grow year by year. It applies the concept of compounding interest.
As a guide, you can use the following percentages (I’ve just come up with these rates, so this is not necessarily accurate):
- Equity Funds – 20%
- Balanced Funds – 15%
- Bond Funds – 10%
Again, as a disclaimer, these rates are based on what I have observed in historical results and does not necessarily reflect future outcomes.
Investment Time Frame (In years). This describes how long you plan to hold your investments. Time is a very important factor in making your money grow.
There it is. I hope you enjoy using this calculator.
